Building a Multi-Disciplinary Pain Society in Your Community

Lecture Description

Please join us for an evening of dinner and dialogue as we begin the exciting process of building a multidisciplinary Pain Society chapter in central Oregon following the successful model of the Pain Society of Oregon. Participants will learn how the Pain Society of Oregon has successfully integrated healthcare professionals; including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, psychologists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, social workers, physical therapists and more! You will learn about this organization’s commitment to a multidisciplinary team and how it has benefited both patients and health care providers. The presentation will highlight the Pain Society of Oregon’s history, mission & infrastructure, as well as its work in healthcare provider education, patient advocacy, opioid education, end-of-life care, and the successful passage of pain management legislation.

Speaker

Jennifer Wagner, LPN, ASN, BS is the Director of Clinical Research at Pain Research of Oregon and the Executive Director of the Western Pain Society. The Western Pain Society is the largest chapter of the American Pain Society representing 13 western states. Prior to this, Jennifer was the Pain Management Coordinator in the Governor’s Advocacy Office for the State of Oregon where she served as co-chair of the Prescription Opioid Poisoning Task Force.

Jennifer’s passion for pain management and policy have led her to take an active role on both the state and national level. She consults with communities to assist them in developing community-based pain initiatives and lectures frequently on a variety of pain management topics including pain policy and legal issues, opioid guidelines, neuroplasticity and patient advocacy.
