Description of Practice:
As an adult practitioner I am certified to provide primary care from age 12 through the elderly population.
Presently I am affiliated with Dr James Morris, a chronic pain specialist. As a Nurse Practitioner, working with a wide variety of patients with numerous chronic pain problems, I assist patients in developing a medical approach to their chronic pain management. This approach may include prescribing a wide variety of pharmacological agents including long acting opioids, tricyclic antidepressants, neuroleptic agents, and topical compounds. We monitor patients’ response to therapy and make adjustments as needed.
We utilize an integrative multidisciplinary approach to pain management. This incorporates referrals to a wide variety of specialties. Included in this list would be pain psychologists, physical therapists, acupuncturists, chiropractors, massage therapists, naturopaths as well as other medical physicians who may do more invasive therapies for chronic pain management, ex: Morphine pumps, spinal cord stimulators, selective nerve root blocks.
Patients are encouraged to develop self-care strategies for their pain management. These would include an exercise routine incorporating walking, water therapy, yoga, tai chi, or other. Development of the patients’ spiritual self is fostered.
