Progressive Rehabilitation Associates (PRA) is a CARF accredited, outpatient rehabilitation facility that provides multidisciplinary treatment to patients with chronic pain or traumatic brain injury.  As Clinical Director of the Pain Management Team, I work with our multidisciplinary team (physician, nurse, vocational counselor, case manager, OT, PT and biofeedback therapist) to provide comprehensive care for clients.  Our goal is to help clients increase both their physical function and psychological health by improving their physical tolerances, reducing psychological distress and improving overall quality of life.  The program also includes vocational assistance, medication management, and collaboration with the attending physician, insurance case manager and vocational counselors.  As one of the team psychologists, I work with clients to decrease barriers to progress, such as depression, anxiety, PTSD and fear of pain or concerns about return to work.  I also help clients develop a flare up management plan and teach pain/stress management psychoeducational classes, with the goal of increasing the client’s self-management of pain.  We invite families to be involved in treatment as we recognize the important role of the family in helping with a successful transition back home and to work.  In addition, we provide transition services to selected clients to ensure a successful transition back to work and their community.
