Description of Practice:
As a European and American trained physician, I blend techniques and combine the tools of scientific medicine with the arts of healing. My specialty is pain prevention and non-invasive management of chronic pain, with the goal of supporting optimal function, mobility and health in my patients. My doctor bag includes medications – when appropriate—along with acupressure, and trigger point injections to break up scar tissue and myofascial pain. I consider myself one member of “Team Wellness,” along with my patient and all the other practitioners we need to bring in to create the best outcome for my patient. I commonly involve nutritionists, hormone balancers, chiropractors, massage therapists, physical therapists and psychologists in my healing. I also promote interdisciplinary treatments, often with two healers working on my patient at the same time. Most important, I offer ample time to listen and time to care.
I have extensive background in Occupational Medicine, which is what I am boarded in, and have run Occ Med departments at The Corvallis Clinic, PeaceHealth in Eugene and for Kaiser Permanente in Maui, HI. Pain from an injury at work requires unique treatments and the ability to interface with employers, nurse case managers, attorneys and insurance companies. I offer pain treatment for injured workers and will help get patients back to work while safeguarding against the development of chronic conditions. I also do closure evaluations and arbiter exams for the Oregon Department of Labor.
My practice is currently open and accepting new patients. I spend about 90 minutes with each new patient so that we can develop a optimal plan of healing and get to know each other. Each repeat visit is 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the issue. I am commonly available by phone and email.
As of June 18, 2010 I no longer will be associated with the well-regarded Pain Management Partners in North Eugene, where I worked for the past three years. I also work at the University of Oregon and some Occ Med work in Portland.
