Description of Practice:
Dr. Tom Etges is a board certified Family Physician, a career path he originally began to help his patients remain healthy.  But too often, he saw the disease being treated, rather than the whole person. He found many of his patients could not tolerate traditional Western drugs or were asking for more natural, non-drug therapies to address their symptoms.  His awareness of the body’s own innate healing ability led him to pursuing additional training in medical acupuncture. 

Dr Etges practices medical acupuncture as his primary means of healing.  Although he includes western medicine in his practice, his emphasis is more on lifestyle, nutrition, and stress reduction.  He prefers to use medical acupuncture and Chinese herbs rather than prescription drugs to achieve a rebalancing effect.  The goal is to treat the root of the problem, thereby providing more effective and longer-term benefits.  Dr. Etges has a special interest in treating gastrointestinal disturbances, acute and chronic pain, women’s health issues, including menopause, PMS, and menstrual irregularities,food and environmental allergies, stress related disorders, as well as sports medicine.

Dr. Etges spends significant time with his patients, getting to know them as a whole person. He enjoys working with people who may be in search of a western medical opinion, and/or those interested in medical acupuncture as an adjunct to their care and healing.
