Description of Practice:
I work from a psychoanalytic perspective, holding the belief that the overarching goals of psychotherapy are 1) to support the self-healing tendency in the psyche, 2) to become conscious of psychological complexes and their role in symptom formation, and 3) to eventually understand the meaning of symptoms/problems in terms of their purpose and affect upon a person’s growth and development.
My specialized training in developing therapeutic rapport, analyzing dreams and utilizing sandplay serve these goals by engaging the unconscious as an ally in healing. In addition to symptom reduction, greater tolerance and increased creativity usually result from this effort.
People most often referred to my practice typically present with symptoms of depression or anxiety, accompanied by issues related to stress, relationships, transitions, loss, and/or physical illness. My service is covered by most insurance companies. I welcome working within an interdisciplinary team.
