Description of Practice:
Dr. Rory F. Richardson, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist in private practice in Lincoln City, Oregon. Since 1973, Dr. Richardson has continued to study Eastern and Western alternative health options in addition to training in clinical hypnosis, guided imagery, psychosynthesis, qi gong, cognitive behavioral therapies, tai chi, Adlerian analysis and various other modalities. He has worked in counseling since 1975, having trained at the Moreno Institute in New York with diverse postgraduate trainings in psychotherapy. He is a Trainer/Educator/Practitioner of Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy (since 1975). He completed his training and internship in eating disorders and is a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist, certified by the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals. Dr. Richardson received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and Biopsychology in 1994. With special interests in Clinical Neuroscience, Natural Treatment Approaches and Pharmacology, Dr. Richardson completed over ten years of training in Advanced Psychopharmacology and Medical Sciences, completing the national examination and preceptorship. In June of 2004, he was awarded the Diplomate Master/Fellow of Advanced Psychopharmacology and a Diplomate/Fellow in Pain Management and Addiction from the International College of Professional Psychology. He is a member of the National Pain Foundation and the American Academy of Pain Management. He currently specializes in Neuropsychology, psychiatric disorders and medical issues, including chronic pain management. He has personal experience in coping with chronic pain, and works with others to utilize various techniques and methods to maximize function, maximize pain relief and improve quality of life.
