Description of Practice:
Gregory T. Smith, PhD is a licensed psychologist in Oregon and Washington state. He is the founder and director of Progressive Rehabilitation Associates (PRA) in Portland, Oregon. PRA provides interdisciplinary outpatient treatment to people who have sustained brain injuries as well as chronic pain.
His area of interest and investigation has been rehabilitation and health care psychology, primarily in the psychological adjustment and treatment of persons who have sustained injuries with protracted disabilities. Dr. Smith has published in peer juried journals and other publications and medical textbook chapters on the treatment of pain. Most recent research interest has been in the areas of pain rehabilitation outcomes. His latest book chapter is entitled "Pain" in the textbook, "Behavioral Medicine in Primary Care, 3rd Edition", edited by MD Feldman and JF Christensen, Lange, January, 2008.
Dr. Smith is an active member of the American Psychological Association, Rehabilitation and Health Care Divisions, the International Association for the study of Pain and the American Pain Society as well as the regional and local pain and brain injury associations. Dr Smith is the President of the regional Pain Interest Consortium including Washington and Oregon.
